Fire chief: Man in stable condition after crews respond to reported drowning

LONG CREEK, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man is in stable condition after rescue crews responded to reports of a drowning in the Chattooga River on Thursday night.

Fire Chief Charlie King said a 911 call was received out of Georgia with very broken reception reporting a drowning.

King said 911 pinged the phone to a location near Bull Sluice on the Chattooga River in Long Creek.

He said the caller was able to located the person before EMS got to the scene.

The victim was transported to Mt. Lakes Medical Center in Georgia.

King said the victim was in stable condition.
