NOPD officer thwarts Marigny business robbery

A man was arrested Tuesday after a New Orleans police officer caught him trying to rob a Marigny business, according to a city news release.

Jeremy Youngblood 21, was booked with armed robbery, resisting an officer by flight and other charges after he allegedly tried to rob a business at gunpoint. The incident occurred at 8:25 p.m. in the 3100 block of Saint Claude Avenue.

Police said Youngblood entered the business and demanded money. The cashiers complied, and as the suspect was leaving the store, a police officer told him to stop. Youngblood dropped the bag of money and fled in a car.

Officers responding to the scene spotted the car and chased it to the 4200 block of Urqhart Street, where Youngblood got out and fled on foot, armed with the gun. A perimeter was set up and a canine unit eventually found Youngblood hiding under a house.

He remains jailed at the Orleans Parish Prison.
