Police: Shots fired into home knocks ceiling fan nearly onto man

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Someone fired shots into a Spartanburg man's home, waking him up and knocking a ceiling fan onto the floor, according to police.

Spartanburg police said about 6:10 a.m. Sunday, they were called to the Arch Street home after the resident reported hearing six to eight shots firing into his house.

The man told police he was asleep when the bullets came through a wall, hitting his ceiling fan and knocking it to the floor. The police report stated the man jumped to the ground waiting for silence from the gunfire.

Police said they found eight shell casings at the intersection of Arch and Greenville streets, more than 70 feet from the home. The report stated .45-caliber rounds entered the house in three locations.

According to the victim, he did not see anyone outside and did not know of anyone who would want to harm him.
