Pendleton to consider Sunday alcohol sales

Posted: Updated:
PENDLETON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Pendleton Town Council plans to take up a proposed referendum that would allow voters to weigh in on Sunday alcohol sales.

According to the council's agenda for the meeting on Monday, the council will hold a first reading of the ordinance. If approved, the ordinance would send the referendum to the voters for a special election to coincide with the general election.

The council meets at 7 p.m. at the city's municipal complex on Greenville Street.

Pendleton is not the first Upstate town to consider letting voters decide on if alcohol should be sold on Sundays.

The counties of Greenville and Spartanburg are also considering similar referendums.

In April, the Oconee County Council approved a Sunday alcohol sales referendum that will be posed to voters in Novembers.
