SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies have arrested and charged a man accused of carrying a gun on Spartanburg Community College school property.

Police said they received an anonymous tip that a student at the school was carrying a stolen handgun on school property on Tuesday. The Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit found the student, but he was not in possession of a gun, according to Lt. Tony Ivey.

However, another student that came with the student to school, Kwame Obrian Fernanders, 20, did have a gun, Ivey said.

Fernanders was booked into the detention center on the charge of possession of a weapon on school property and three outstanding bench warrants, Ivey said.

Investigators do not believe he intended to harm anyone at the college.

Fernanders bond was set at $5,000 and he must wear an ankle bracelet if he posts the bond.
