Youth soccer teams meet for national tournament in Greenville County

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Forty top boys and girls youth soccer teams from across the country arrived in Greenville County on Thursday for the 2014 U.S. Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup.

Preliminary games began at 8 a.m. at the MESA Soccer Complex on Anderson Ridge Road.

Two teams will be crowned the U.S. Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup Champions following the final games on Sunday.

Teams are from several states, including Pennsylvania, Texas, California, Kansas, Illinois, Tennessee, New York, Washington, Utah, Alaska, Missouri, Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, Georgia, Florida, Connecticut, Indiana and Virginia.

Organizers said the United States Youth Soccer Association is the largest youth sports organization in the country. U.S. Youth Soccer registers more than 3 million players annually and has over 900,000 administrators, coaches and volunteers in 55 member state associations, according to organizers.
