CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

A Chesterfield woman died on Friday when she was pinned underneath her car on Friday morning.

Amber H. Hernandez left her stick shift car in neutral and didn't apply the parking break around 8 a.m., according to police. She was talking on her cell phone and standing behind the sedan on Sussex Place, when the car began to roll backwards toward her, according to a witness. The 23-year-old was trapped underneath the car with the front passenger wheel resting on her chest, a neighbor said. The neighbor then told his wife to call 911.

Police and rescue units cordoned off access to four homes in the 8000 block of Sussex Place, near Newbys Bridge Road to investigate the accident.

Friends of the victim rushed passed the yellow police line tape, frantically asking investigators what happened.

Two fire engines as well as forensics vehicles arrived on scene as part of the response.
