Greenville County deputies, Allstate, and the Taylors community is holding a children's safety event on Saturday in memory of a Greenville County deputy who died in 2013.

Organizers said the Sgt. Brian Donnelly Memorial Safety Awareness Day will take place from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot across the street from Edward Forest Plaza on Wade Hampton Boulevard.

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office will allow visitors to meet and greet K-9 officers. The Sheriff's Office will also have a crime prevention safety display set up.

Safe Kids Upstate will be handing out free bicycle helmets to children.

The American Red Cross will have displays and games at the event.

Donnelly died in December 2013 after serving nearly four decades with law enforcement organizations in the Upstate. He joined the Greenville County Sheriff's Office in 1989.
