Deputies: man charged after beating grandmother

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Spartanburg man has been charged with assault and battery after deputies said he attacked his grandmother.

According to incident reports, the attack happened at a home on Beverly Drive on Friday afternoon.

The victim told deputies that Travis Solesbee, 29, punched her in the eye and knocked her to the ground, According to incident reports, Solesbee kicked the woman in the back and in the stomach while she was on the ground.

Deputies said the victim's eye was nearly swollen shut when they arrived on scene, and that the woman was very shaky and incoherent. She was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The victim said Solesbee suffers from mental problems and sometimes behaves violently, according to incident reports.

Deputies said Solesbee was standing in the driveway when they arrived and was taken into custody.

A judge issued a warrant charging Solesbee with assault and battery third degree.

The suspect is being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center on a $1,097 bond, according to online jail records.
