Johnson City woman arrested for hitting KMart employee with her car

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

A Johnson City woman was arrested after police said she tried to leave a store without paying, and hit an employee with her car on the way out.

According to Johnson City Police, Aracelia Oquendo, 22, was trying to shoplift merchandise from the KMart on Peoples Street.

Police said a loss prevention employee tried to stop Oquendo as she left the store. They said Oquendo then got into her car and hit the loss prevention employee, who was directly behind the vehicle, as she left the scene.

Oquendo was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and shoplifting.

She's at the Washington County Detention Center on $15,000 bond. The KMart employee was not hurt.
