FAA investigating deadly plane crash in Carrollton

CARROLL COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Federal officials are investigating a plane crash that killed two people Sunday in Carroll County.

The plane went down at about 5 p.m. in the woods between Horsley Mill Road and Cross Plains Road just outside Carrollton. Officials said the plane went down in the woods and was destroyed by fire.

A Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson confirmed two people were onboard the aircraft, but their names have not been released.

Officials described the plane as a Steen Skybolt experimental two-seater. It had taken off from West Georgia Regional Airport, which is about 11 miles from the crash site.
