Contestants line up in Richmond for American Idol tryouts

Contestants line up at State Capitol to be the next American Idol

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Hundreds from all over the area are in front of the State Capitol, hoping to become the next American Idol. Some of them have been in line since 7 p.m. Monday.

They are lined up on Bank Street, waiting for auditions to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The bus is parked at the Virginia State Capitol building on Bank Street between 10th and 12th streets.

Auditions are open to anyone between 15 and 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
