GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies said they arrested a man acting strangely on Monday after he left his 8-month-old child in a hot car for several minutes.

Deputies said they were called to the Goodwill on Woodruff Road about a suspicious person about 12:30 p.m.

According to deputy Drew Pinciaro, officers spoke with witnesses who said they saw Brian Reid, 28, pull into the parking lot and get out of his car acting confused. According to deputies, Reid opened the doors to his car like he was looking for something, then went into the store acting strange.

After several minutes, Pinciaro said Reid returned to his car, again opening doors and yelling that he couldn't find his baby.

Then he drove around to the back of the store, began pulling items out of the car, Pinciaro said. An employee could hear the baby crying and confronted Reid, who handed the baby to the employee, according to deputies. Pinciaro said the child was hot and covered in dried vomit.

Then Reid asked for boxes so he could unload his car, deputies said.

Paramedics and the Department of Social Services checked out the baby, who was given to its mother who was called to the scene.

Deputies said Reid was arrested on an active family court bench warrant and unlawful neglect of a child. According to his arrest warrant, Reid left his baby in the car unattended multiple times over a period of time during high temperatures.
