COLUMBIA, SC (AP) -

Potential independent U.S. Senate candidate Thomas Ravenel now says he will be in the second season of a reality TV show based in Charleston.

Ravenel sent out a statement Tuesday that said he will participate in the show "Southern Charm."

He was in the first season of the show, which revolved around the messy relationships that develop with rich young people drinking and having sex in Charleston. Ravenel got one of the co-stars pregnant and is currently living with her and his new daughter.

Ravenel said before he was leaving the show, but now says it will give him a platform to spread his ideas to a bigger audience.

Ravenel was elected state treasurer in 2006, but resigned after less than a year because of a felony drug charge.
