SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies said they have a man in custody following an attempted home invasion in Mayo Tuesday night where the robber demanded the victims get naked and give up their cash.

Deputies said they were called to a reported home invasion where shots were fired on Center Street in Cowpens around 9:20 p.m.

Prior to the call, a deputy's report stated Scott Bostic, 44, was with two people and had been drinking, saying he wanted to get rid of his shotgun and pistol. While driving around, the truck was almost out of gas, and Bostic said "let's go to Mayo and get gas money," according to the report.

Deputies said the three entered the home and Bostic first wanted to sell his guns, but then said it was a robbery.

"You know what time it is, give me your money and dope," Bostic said, and also demanded the victims take off their clothes and get on the ground, according to the report.

The homeowner, Gary Henderson, said he thought Bostic was joking at first because he thought he was a friend. Henderson said he told Bostic he only had $10 and wasn't giving it to him, and that is when Bostic fired a shot from a double-barrel shotgun.

Henderson said the gunshot barely missed his roommate's girlfriend, blowing through a kitchen wall, so he grabbed a BB gun that looks like a pistol and pointed it at Bostic. He said that caused Bostic pause, prompting others to tackle him to the ground.

Both Henderson and deputies said the men struggled with Bostic who fought back. The report stated Bostic struck one of the victims with a jack handle during the struggle. Henderson said it took all they could to stop him.

Bostic was put in the back of the pickup truck, yelling and covered in blood, according to deputies.

Deputies learned the truck was spotted a short time later on McArthur Street in Chesnee by police, Bobo said. He said the suspect was taken into custody at the home.

The report states deputies found Bostic not very responsive, with his face covered in blood. Bobo said the man was then taken to the hospital with injuries he suffered in the altercation with the homeowner.

Deputies said Bostic will be charged with two counts of pointing and presenting firearms at a person, five counts of attempted armed robbery, first-degree assault and battery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and discharging firearms into a dwelling once he is released from the hospital.
