EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Pickens County deputies arrested an inmate on Wednesday who escaped from the Pickens County Stockade in early July, said Chief Deputy Creed Hashe.

James Townsend was taken into custody at a house on Backersville Road in Easley following an anonymous tip, Hashe said.

Deputies had been searching for Townsend since the discovery of his escape by stockade authorities on July 3, Hashe said.

Townsend was serving a sentence for failure to pay child support and had been at the stockade since June 2.

He is now charged with escape and is being held at the Pickens County Detention Facility, Hashe said.

Hashe said Pickens County deputies were contacted by Greenville County deputies about a pending grand larceny charge against Townsend.
