Outshyne, the country band from Laurens County, has scored their first #1 single on Sirius XM's hit-launching channel The Highway with "Moonlight Crush."
The single nabbed the top spot this week on The Highway's "Hot 45 Countdown" heard worldwide.
"Moonlight Crush" is selling more than 5,000 downloads a week on iTunes totaling more than 78,000 total downloads.
The single was co-written by Marv Green, Blake Wise and BMI songwriter of the year Rodney Claswson, whose 13 #1 singles have included massive hits for Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean.
Outshyne is made up of five guys including: Waylon Owings (lead singer, guitar), Josh Coleman (lead guitar, vocals), Casey Joe Kelly (rhythm guitar, vocals), Jason Paxton (bass) and Mathew "Smiley" Norris (drums).
The band stopped by FOX Carolina and talked to Cody Alcorn about their first #1 hit.
"It's a great feeling man. It's amazing. We've gotten so many emails and messages on social media and stuff. Facebook is blowing up. I can't even answer all them back. I remember when I used to be able to answer all our fan messages," explained Waylon Owings.
Sony RED, an award winning independent distribution and marketing company has partnered with Outshyne to help in distributing the bands Startin' Over album.
The band is managed by Florence, South Carolina's Millstar Entertainment Group.
You can catch Outshyne in the Upstate on Aug. 2 at Party in the Park in Williamston. Then they'll be at the Sooie'T Relief BBQ Benefit in Greer on Aug. 23.
