PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Two people accused of assisting a man who escaped from the Pickens County Stockade have been arrested, according to the sheriff's office.

Chief Deputy Creed Hashe said James Townsend's brother and cousin "aided and assisted in the harboring" of him when he escaped from the facility on July 3.

Hashe said 51-year-old Mitcheal Townsend (brother) and 30-year-old Gregory Townsend (nephew), both of Easley, were arrested on Thursday on the charge of harboring an escaped convict.

James Townsend was taken into custody at their home on July 16 after deputies received an anonymous tip, according to Hashe.
