Deputies said a man and his daughter were arrested after attacking relatives at a Boiling Springs home Sunday where shots were fired.

Spartanburg County deputies said some type of dispute erupted at a home on Shoally Ridge Drive in Boiling Springs about 9 p.m. Sunday. Shots were fired, but no one was hit, according to deputies.

According to a deputy's report, 67-year-old Johnny McSwain and his daughter Kathryn McSwain, 25, stopped by the home of his sister-in-law and her husband.

Deputies said Johnny McSwain slapped the woman and knocked her to the ground, then got into a fight with her husband. According to the report, Kathryn McSwain jumped on the man's back and began punching him while holding a closed knife.

Johnny McSwain then went outside, got a gun and fired shots at the man, deputies said. The report stated the McSwains left and after they were stopped by troopers and taken into custody, Johnny McSwain told investigators he tried to kill his brother-in-law.

Deputies said they found shell casings inside the kitchen. According to the report, the home belongs to Johnny McSwain's wife and sister-in-law, but the sister-in-law had lived there for the past eight years.

Both McSwains were charged with third-degree assault and battery. Johnny McSwain was also charged with attempted murder.

Deputies said the victims declined medical treatment.
