SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police are investigating an armed robbery at the Golden Corral on Monday night.

Dispatchers said the robbery was reported about 8:30 p.m. at the restaurant on W.O. Ezell Boulevard.

An employee at the restaurant said no one was injured during the robbery, but employees were shaken up.

According to the police report, an employee standing at the register noticed a man walk up acting like he was on the phone. The report said she asked if he wanted a drink, he turned around and pulled a gun on her.

He told her to "Open the register, keep calm or I will shoot you," according to the report.

The woman tried to make eye contact with customers but the robber blocked her view, and when she tried to hit the panic button, he told her "don't event think about pushing" the button, police said.

The report said the robber only took the $1s and $20s, leaving behind the $5s and $10s, and told her not to call police, then said thank you.

The woman told police he walked out slowly toward W.O. Ezell Boulevard and she followed. When he noticed her, he took off running toward St. Matthews Lane but was not located, police said.
