GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

After receiving between 2 and 3 inches of rain in the last few days, more shower activity is on the way for Tuesday.

Scattered showers will continue through the day with mostly cloudy skies and isolated thunderstorms mixed in. Tuesday's highs will reach the low to mid-80s area-wide.

Rain and a few storms will continue overnight with lows in the 60s to near 70s.

More showers and storms are expected on Wednesday, with mostly cloudy skies and warmer temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s. Thursday should bring a few Upstate showers, with more widespread rain in the mountains, and highs in the mid-to-upper 80s.

Much drier weather is on the way by Friday with mostly sunny skies across our area, with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. Saturday should start dry and mostly sunny with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s, with a slight chance of a late-day mountain storm.

By Sunday, partly cloudy skies return with a few showers and storms area-wide, with highs in the mid-80s to low-90s.

While some may be over the recent rain, compared with 2013, it has been a much drier summer.

Greenville-Spartanburg has seen 3.74 inches of rain and Asheville has seen 3.45 inches so far in July. Both areas are less than half an inch short of rain to get to the average for yearly rainfall - which could happen Tuesday.

Last year's July saw record-breaking rain, with 13.57 inches at GSP and 10.91 inches in Asheville by July 22, 2013.
