Henrico meeting to discuss animal control, Chickahominy access ramp

Posted: Updated:
HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

There's a new ordinance being set to be introduced in Henrico that could impact dog owners across the county.

The Board of Supervisors is expected to hear about legislation that would allow animal control officers to seize dogs if they kill poultry or other livestock. Prior to July 1, officers were legally required to kill dogs guilty of such an act.

Also at that same meeting, supervisors are set to consider allowing a canoe and kayak access ramp along the Chickahominy River. If approved, it would go up near the Grapevine Bridge, near North Airport Drive.

VDOT and the James River Association would be responsible for the maintenance if approved.

The meeting gets underway at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
