GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenwood police said bloody footprints led to a home where a woman had been assaulted by her boyfriend.

Police were called to the victim's home on New Street at 6 a.m. on July 14 where they found several items in the street including a baseball cap, screwdriver and moped owner's manual.

They also said they saw several bloody footprints leading to the front door of a home.

The victim told police she had a "house full of people" when her boyfriend, 33-year-old Sylvelis Wright, showed up and was upset, according to the police report.

The woman told officers Wright jumped on her and punched her in the face with a closed fist, the report said.

The report said Wright then grabbed a hammer and attempted to hit the victim with it.

The altercation eventually spilled out into the roadway and Wright left on his moped, according to the report.

Police said they observed blood smeared on the victim's face, shoulder, chest and hands. They said the woman also had a scratch on the left side of her face and was shirtless with one bra strap broken.

Wright was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and battery, according to police.
