LAURENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A driver was injured after troopers said he crashed while fleeing from Laurens police Thursday.

According to the Highway Patrol, 49-year-old Michael Coleman fled from police, leading them on a chase before crashing on Sullivan Street about 11:30 p.m.

Troopers said Coleman hit a parked car then veered off the road and hit an embankment. They said he was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and would be booked into the jail after he was released.

According to online jail records, Coleman is charged with failure to stop for blue lights, leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest, driving under the influence, driving under suspension and giving false information to police.
