Early clouds give way to sunny, warm weather

Posted: Updated:

Patchy fog and thick clouds this morning have quickly moved out of our area.  High pressure is setting in in the wake of Thursday's showers and storms, and that will help to build in the sunshine over the next few hours.  Highs should reach the upper 80s Upstate, and low 80s in the mountains; both slightly below average. A lingering shower is possible in the mountains today, but at a 20% chance, it's likely most will go rain-free.

The high pressure system is expected to remain dominant throughout the weekend, with warmer temperatures moving in.  Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s with plenty of sun both days.  A cold front approaches late Sunday, so overnight into Monday clouds will likely build.

That cold front will bring scattered showers and a possible thunderstorm to our area on Monday, and then quickly move out by Tuesday.  Once that front leaves, it begins a pattern of below-normal temperatures that is expected to last throughout the remainder of next week.
