11-year-old West Pelzer boy dies in shooting incident

WEST PELZER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An 11-year-old West Pelzer boy died after a shooting incident Friday night, according to Don McCown with the Anderson County Coroner's Office.

McCown said the shooting happened just after 8 p.m. in a Hindman Street home.

West Pelzer police and EMS arrived and rushed Jonathan Tyler Paxton to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where McCown said the boy was pronounced dead just before 9 p.m.

The boy was alone in his bedroom when the shooting occurred, McCown said.

The coroner's office, West Pelzer Police, and SLED are investigating what happened.
