Copper thieves pillage church parsonage

INMAN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies in are investigating after an air-conditioning unit was found dismantled and pillaged at a parsonage belonging to a Spartanburg County church.

Deputies said they were called to the Alverson Grove Baptist Church on Peachtree Road on Friday after a groundskeeper discovered the damaged HVAC unit.

Church officials said all the copper components had been removed from the HVAC unit and further inspection revealed the thieves had entered the crawlspace and ripped out copper tubing from beneath the house.

No suspects were identified, according to incident reports.
