UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies were called to investigate a dog's death after a Jonesville woman found the Husky mix dead Saturday.

Union County deputies said they were called to the Cedar Grove Road home after the woman discovered her dog Simba had been shot.

According to the deputy's report, the woman fed her three dogs Thursday night and returned Friday morning but did not see Simba. When she came back later in the afternoon, she still did not see Simba and searched around the neighborhood but did not see the dog.

Though she continued to look for Simba, she noticed a foul smell coming from a storage unit and found Simba underneath, according to the report. Deputies said the dog had been shot multiple times and they found 11 bullet holes in the storage building.

The neighbor said he did not hear or see anything, or know anything about the dog, according to the report.

Anyone with information on the shooting should call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
