Women charged after bar manager assaulted

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg Police said two women were arrested after a bar manager was assaulted because he refused to serve them more drinks.

According to incident reports, officers were called the Chiefs Wings and firewater on John B. White Sr. Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

The manager told officers he asked the women to leave after they became belligerent and one of them slapped the man and clawed his face, according to reports.

Officers said the manager had several bloody marks on his face when they arrived.

Reports state the officers found the two women sitting on a bench outside the bar.

Officers said the assault suspect, Heather Chumley, was extremely intoxicated, uncooperative and that the women yelled obscenities while officers and onlookers were present.

The other woman, identified as Anita Corn, even tried to cover Chumley's mouth with her hand at one point, reports state.

Officers said Chumley began yelling even louder when she was placed in handcuffs. Chumley was charged with simple assault, reports state.

Corn was charged with public disorderly conduct.

Corn was released from the Spartanburg County Detention Center Saturday morning. Chumley remained in custody as of Saturday morning, according to online jail records.
