ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson Interfaith Ministries, also known as AIM, has been collecting school supplies in Anderson County for 20 years, but this year donations are down and they're hoping for help.

Guidance counselors at area schools have requested 2,300 supply bags and currently they only have enough supplies for 1,100 bags.

AIM is hoping the community will step up and donate by Friday, so the students will be prepared by the time school starts.

AIM Executive Director Kristi King-Brock said donating school supplies helps students, but teachers also usually end up paying for supplies out of their own pockets.

King-Brock isn't sure why donations are down, but is confident that the Anderson community will help them meet the needs of the community by the end of the week.

For more information on what they're asking for and where you can donate, visit AIM's website at www.aimcharity.org
