GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The city of Greenville is getting ready to repave approximately 4,500 feet of Main Street in downtown.

City Communications Manager Leslie Fletcher said the project is set to begin Aug. 24 and construction is expected to take six weeks for the stretch of road between the Augusta Street at River Street intersection to the Beattie Plaza at College Street intersection.

Fletcher said the project includes milling, patching, resurfacing and restriping the street.

Contractors will work from Sunday to Thursday on the project between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., resulting in road closures and parking space closures on the parts of the being worked on, which Fletcher said will probably involve two blocks at a time.

The road will be reopen to traffic and parking outside the construction hours, Fletcher said.
