GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville police said a man shoplifting ammo from Cabela's fought an officer investigating the incident on Tuesday afternoon.

Public information officer Johnathan Bragg said police received a call at about 2:30 p.m. in reference to a shoplifting in progress at the store on Woodruff Road.

Bragg said the loss prevention staff was watching two men conceal firearm magazines and ammunition on them.

When an officer arrived at the scene, he made contact with the men when one of them turned around and began actively fighting the officer, according to Bragg.

Bragg said the officer was able to take the man to the ground and took control of him.

While this was happening, the other suspect involved fled the scene, according to Bragg.

Bragg said once the officer got the suspect into custody he found a loaded firearm tucked into the front of the suspect's pants.

Bragg identified the suspect as 20-year-old Brandon Adams.

Adams was arrested on the charges of shoplifting, resisting arrest and unlawfully carrying a firearm, according to Bragg.

He said Adams also had two active warrants for failing to appear.

Adams was given $11,000 bond on the three charges at a hearing just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday night.
