INMAN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies were called to help Inman police investigate a string of car break-ins on Wednesday.

Deputies said they were called to Nature Walk Way after six victims reported thefts and break-ins.

According to a sheriff's office report, the thieves used their shirts to open the cars, stealing items from inside the center console, glove boxes and inside the vehicles.

Joey Shook, said he caught three men on one of his home's security cameras stealing a portable DVD player from his wife's unlocked car, and trying to break into his locked car.

"Around 5:54 a.m. I caught three... males walking up and rummaging through my wife's car," said Shook.

Shook said the cameras are on constantly. Watch surveillance video of the theft here.

"I can look at them 24 hours a day, anywhere I'm at, on my phone, on my iPad," said Shook.

He installed the cameras when he moved in, but said he never thought he would need them in his home on Nature Walk Way.

"It's just something you have to experience, once you have cameras at your house, you're always going to want them," said Shook.

Shook's neighbor, Derek James, was glad those extra eyes were watching early Wednesday morning.

James said he accidentally left his truck unlocked overnight and people stole medicine bottles from it.

He also said people stole jewelry from his wife's car.

"There wasn't a whole lot missing, but just the point that anything was missing... kinda makes you wonder if it's going to happen again," said James.

Deputies said they were able to lift fingerprints off of some of the cars along with glove or cloth impressions.

Anyone with information on the crime should contact the Inman Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
