WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Walhalla man is accused of breaking into the Blue Ridge Shrine Club and stealing their smoker, according to deputies.

Oconee County deputies said the theft was reported on Aug. 1 at the Seneca club when the smoker was discovered missing from a storage unit at the property.

According to deputies, a photo of a possible suspect vehicle led to the suspect - 30-year-old Joseph Jones - who told investigators the smoker was at a home in Newry.

But deputies said they received a tip the smoker was somewhere else, and when they questioned Jones, they said he changed his story.

Deputies said Jones broke into the building on July 21, stealing the barbeque worth $2,500.

Jones was arrested on Wednesday and charged with third-degree burglary, grand larceny and giving false information to officers.
