Rare blue lobster to be moved to aquarium in St. Louis

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A rare blue lobster that recently found a home at the Schnucks Market in Cape Girardeau will soon be moved to The World Aquarium in St. Louis.

The lobster came in their regular shipment from Massachusetts-based supplier North Atlantic on Aug. 6. The lobster will be moved to her new home at The World Aquarium at 701 N. 15th Street in St. Louis on Aug. 13.

A deli clerk first noticed the lobster in the tank.

Since a post on Facebook, many people have come by the seafood department to sneak a peek at this rare Crustacean.

The blue lobster is estimated at one out of every two million.

Employees say that this is the first time they have ever had a blue lobster in their store.

The lobster weighs in at 1.35 pounds.

The current rate for purchasing a lobster there is $19.99 per pound. However, this rare blue lobster was not for sale.
