FOREST CITY, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The man who the Rutherford County sheriff said injured a deputy with a shotgun blast during a standoff was released from the hospital and taken to jail on Sunday.

Deputies said Kevin Clifford Marks was released from Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville and transported to the Rutherford County Detention Facility after being served with warrants charging him with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, resisting public officer and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Sheriff Chris Francis said Marks was high on meth when during an eight-hour standoff with deputies at a home on Oak Forest Drive on Aug. 4.

Francis said Marks fired a shotgun and one deputy was hit with the blast. Several deputies also suffered minor injuries after being hit by glass shrapnel, Francis said.

Several gun battles ensued and an injured Marks was taken to the hospital after a tear gas attack by SWAT forced him out of the home.

Marks received a secured bond of $750,000 and is currently being held in the Rutherford County Detention Facility.
