Police: Man stabbed multiple times in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Asheville police have made an arrest in a stabbing that sent a man to the hospital early Tuesday morning.

The stabbing was reported in the Lexington Park area around 2:45 a.m., according to Sgt. Gary Gudac.

Responding officers found the victim with multiple stab wounds, and once he was taken to the hospital, Gudac said officers followed a blood trail to where the assault occurred in the Lexington, Broadway Street area

The victim did provide a description of a possible suspect and police said an arrest was made later in the day.

Sgt. Dave Romick said Brian Wilson Jr., 27, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Romick said the victim, 46-year-old Garry Connell, was critically injured and remained at Mission Hospital on Wednesday morning.

Police said the motive behind the attack is not yet known.
