Two women arrested after found with drugs in stolen car

UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Chesnee woman and a Gaffney women were arrested and charged after an undercover Union County deputy spotted them in a stolen vehicle and discovered drugs in the car.

The undercover deputy said he ran the license plate of a Nissan Altima with damage to the driver's side of the car and the car came back listed as stolen out of Gaffney.

The deputy said he then pulled the vehicle over on North Duncan Bypass and discovered the driver, Stacey Padgett, 31, of jean Court, Chesnee, was driving under suspension.

A second, woman, Tammy Turner, 50, of Goucher Green Bethel Road, Gaffney was also in the car, deputies said.

Both women were immediately charged with possession of stolen property and detained while deputies searched the car, according to reports.

Deputies said they discovered several pieces of plastic straws, plastic zipper bags, and a glass pipe, all which contained small amounts of methamphetamine.

Both women were additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Padgett was also charged with driving under suspension third offense.
