Greer extended alcohol sales headed to Nov. ballot

GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Extended Sunday alcohol sales in Greer is headed to the November ballot after the city council approved its second reading on Tuesday.

The council approved the measure, 5-1, which will allow voters to decide whether convenience and grocery stores should be able to sell alcohol on Sunday.

The only council member to vote against the measure was Mayor Pro Tem Wayne Griffin.

"We live in a society where everything goes now, but I'm concerned about keeping the Sabbath holy," he said on July 22 when he voted against it during its first reading.
