EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Easley police and the Pickens County coroner are investigating a deadly crash involving an 82-year-old woman who crashed into a tractor-trailer in a shopping center parking lot.

Police said the accident happened at 5:38 a.m. in the Forest Acres Shopping Center on U.S. 123 near SC 93.

A witness reported the crash to 911 after police said the car struck the 18-wheeler, driving partially underneath the trailer.

According to Pickens County coroner Kandy Kelley, Catherine Bowen of Easley died of blunt force trauma. She lost control of her 2009 Honda CRV and struck the parked tractor-trailer, according to Kelley.

Police said based on witness statements, they do not believe any other vehicles were involved, and the accident may have been prompted by medical reasons.
