CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Greenville man arrested in connection with an early-morning Aug. 10 "sucker punch" assault on upper King Street faced a bond judge Saturday morning.

A judge set a $20,000 surety bond for James Hutton, who surrendered to police Friday night, faces a charge of assault and battery second degree, according to Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis. The judge also ordered Hutton to have no contact with the victim in the assault, Francis said.

Hutton's arrest comes days after Charleston Police released six stills from surveillance footage recorded near 455 King Street, where the assault happened at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, police say. The stills showed several men police hoped to identify. Hutton is one of the men depicted in the surveillance stills, Francis confirmed on Saturday morning.

The wife of the victim of the assault says her husband was "sucker punched" and suffered a fractured skull from the attack. Billy Schilling was found lying on the ground bleeding in front of a hair salon after the assault.

Schilling's wife, Ashley, says the man who threw the punch had made a crude remark towards her before punching her husband in the face.

Sunday's attack on upper King Street was the second such attack in four months. In April, a Johns Island man died after being sucker punched.

Anyone who can identify the people in the images should call Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111 or toll free at (888) CRIMESC. Tips may also be submitted by sending a text with the letters CSL followed by the information to 274637.
