MARION, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Buncombe County deputies said a suspect is in custody after he led officers on a chase into McDowell County on Tuesday.

Public relation coordinator Natalie Bailey said at about 6 p.m., Buncombe County deputies requested assistance from McDowell County deputies at the intersection of Mill Creek Road and Point Lookout Trail near Old Fort.

Bailey said a suspect was tracked to this location before going over an embankment on foot and going almost a mile into the woods.

Michael Grant Lee Gordon, 28, was detained by deputies and transported to Mission Hospital because he was suffering from a dog bite, according to Bailey.

A deputy also received medical treatment for a medical condition after the pursuit.

Gordon was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit felony larceny, one misdemeanor charge of fleeing/eluding arrest with a motor vehicle, one charge of resisting and driving with an expired license.

He was transported to the Henderson County Detention Center after being released from the hospital.
