WEST PELZER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

West Pelzer police are looking for the tow truck and driver who crashed into a power pole early on Friday then fled the scene, according to the chief.

Chief Mike Clardy said about 1 a.m. a truck collided with the pole at the intersection of Highway 8 and Holiday Street.

Clardy said witnesses reported seeing a white tow truck with blue writing on the side veer into the pole. He said the driver fled the scene before police arrived.

Drivers in the area are asked to use caution as one lane of Highway 8 is closed as crews work to repair the downed and low-hanging power lines.

Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call West Pelzer police or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
