CHESNEE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

According to incident reports, an argument over a missing birthday cake led to an assault in Spartanburg County on Friday.

Deputies said Gerald Tolleson, 51, was charged with assault and battery after deputies were called to a home on Parris Bridge Road on Friday night.

According to reports, the female victim confronted Tolleson, who was in a tent in the victim's front yard, about the missing cake.

The victim told deputies Tolleson denied taking the cake but then began pounding on her front door a short time later.

When the victim opened the door, she told deputies Tolleson assaulted her, according to reports.

Tolleson claimed the woman struck him first.

Tolleson was book and released from the Spartanburg County Detention Center on Saturday, according to online jail records.
