GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Students of Springfield Elementary School in Greenwood County returned to the school on Friday afternoon after a power outage canceled several days of school.

District 50 Community Service Coordinator Johnathan Graves said all power was lost at the school on Tuesday morning and the entire student body and staff were transported to the Emerald High School gymnasium before being dismissed at their regular time.

Due to the outage, there was also no school on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Friday, the students were transported to Lakeview Elementary, Mathews Elementary, or Emerald High School in the morning where they had their classes.

"I appreciate the hard work and dedication of Springfield's faculty and staff in preparing for our students," Superintendent Darrell Johnson stated on Thursday. "Teachers have worked hard to develop lessons and the administration is prepared for the change in location. It is quite apparent that Springfield's staff is focused on teaching and learning as evidenced by their work over the past two days."

Graves said power was back on Friday and students return to the school at 1 p.m. and followed a normal dismissal schedule.
