ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office said a man was arrested after a pursuit on Tuesday night.

The chase began after deputies located a stolen vehicle at Simon's bar off of Clemson Boulevard, according to deputies.

Deputies said the responding officer ordered the driver to get out of the car, but he refused, putting the car in neutral and racing the engine. Deputies said the suspect then put the car into drive, jumped the sidewalk and sped away.

Lieutenant Sheila Cole of the Anderson County Sheriff's Office said the suspect ran from deputies on Brown Road near Amanda Drive around 9:30 p.m.

Deputies searched for the suspect following the pursuit. A helicopter also assisted in the search, which was eventually called off.

Cole said the suspect was later spotted on Liberty Highway and taken into custody.

She said Nicholas Sisneros, 26, was arrested and charged with failure to stop for blue lights and open container.

Deputies said the investigation was ongoing.
