WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Crews responding to a house fire in Oconee County Tuesday night found a man's body inside.

According to Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis, 911 operators got a call at 9:39 p.m. about a house fire at 829 North Andover Dr. in the Mountain View subdivision of Walhalla.

The Walhalla Fire Department, along with other fire agencies, responded to the fire, Addis said.

Crews found an unresponsive male victim inside a bedroom. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Addis identified him as Michael Joseph Marcello, 49.

There was no one else in the home at the time of the fire.

An autopsy was performed Wednesday morning and determined the cause of death was smoke inhalation, according to the Addis.

He said the manner of death is classified as accidental.

The Walhalla Fire Department, Walhalla Police Department and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are investigating the fire.
