MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A suspect in a 2006 Montgomery murder was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Thursday.

Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey's office says Jerrod Lucas was convicted and sentenced on the same day for the August 5, 2006 murder of Clyde Chatman.

Chatman, 58, was robbed at gunpoint. Authorities said that as Lucas and two other suspects, Maurice Carpenter and Temarco Scarver, fatally shot Chatman as they drove away.

WSFA 12 News is currently checking on the legal status of Carpenter and Scarver, though it is known both were facing capital murder charges at one time.

Chatman's body was found in a car on Goode Street that Saturday morning. He was the city's 18th homicide of the year.
