Trojans, Pats adjust to 9 a.m. kickoff time

LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - It's arguably the most anticipated game in both Lee County and Westover's football histories.

Mother Nature is changing a few plans, however.

The game's kickoff time has been pushed to 9:00 a.m. Saturday due to forecasted extreme heat during the original 1:00 time. The heat index is expected to be in the triple digits during the afternoon.

Both teams are now adapting on the fly, but each side believes they'll be just fine.

"We've been going in the morning from 9:00-11:00 this summer, so we are more than prepared for this," says Lee Co. MLB Dextric Green. "It shouldn't be much of a change."

"With it being the first game of the season, you're going to have all those jitters, guys are going to be nervous playing on television," says Westover head coach Octavia Jones. "I think it's going to kind of balance itself out. I think we're going to be ok. The crowd's going to be there. It's going to be a state championship atmosphere, so the adrenaline will be pumping."
