GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The South Carolina Conservative Action Council rallied in Downtown Greenville Saturday over the security of the border.

Chair of the state group, William Carter, said the president wants to flood the country with illegal immigrants for political gain.

"This guy is very cold, calculating, and he wants to bring them in here so he can topple the two party system in America," said Carter.

A counter protest, William David, said he showed up to bring a different side to the story.

"My counter narrative is that we're a nation of immigrants… these refugee children that are trying to come are really just looking for a better life," said David.

Carter also believes illegal immigrants are responsible for a tuberculosis outbreak in Greenwood last year.

He said America is setting itself up for a "healthcare crisis" if the border is not secured.

David brought signs to the protest that said "Jesus was a refugee" and "humans are not illegal".

He said undocumented immigrants deserve the chance to stay if they've worked their whole lives to contribute to society in the United States.
